9. Takuya Angel In NYC

Photobucket
On November 20Th I went to Stimulate for the first time. Music was awesome dancers were great it was fun i even met some old friends. Now i always wanted to go to one of the stimulate event but never had a change to or I was just to plain lazy to go. So makes this time so different with me that I actually went this time. Two Words Takuya Angel yay! I was so exited about it.
He had a little U.S tour from Virginia, Philly to New York.
Now me and my sister knew about it like 2 weeks beforehand but we were skeptical about it but he really did show up at this event. Sad to say my sister couldn't come with me because where Stimulate was held you needed to be 21 and older. So I went there met up with a friend that usually go to Stimulate saw Takuya took a picture with him shoke his hand I was happy and a bit nervous at the same time.

8: Tron Yay!

Finally the day has come for us to see Tron and Narnia

I love the first tron movie. I went with my sister, brother and two other friends. I understood all the hype for this movie plus with the Daft Punk music. I wasn’t all that impress with the movie not to mention we watch both movies that night in 3D. In my opinion 3D movies Im not really a big fan it. Tron i was expecting more but i wasn’t entirely disappointed with it . It wasn’t the best and it wasn’t the worse it was ok. As for Narnia it was also good they really rushed it. The reason why im saying this it’s because i have the BBC series or Narnia and i really love the original. But like i said both movies are ok i wasn’t disappointed at it. I was kind off upset that we watch it in 3D which we really didn’t need to there was nothing 3D about it, except the scenery ant the little effect the movies had.

Anyway after the movie my two friends left for home and me my brother and sister went to karaoke. This is the first time my brother went with use to karaoke. We had a good time, lost our voices and then headed for home.

7. Fun Times Japanese Aid

Sorry for the random title. Today I made a video about some japanese games I play to sort of expose myself to the language without grinding lessons. Here it is!

I introduced the games in no particular order but the games ranged from beginners to advanced levels in japanese. Honestly I am not too sure where I am in japanese. Everything I know is very random and all over the place so I can understand a little in every situation so I just like to fill in the gaps of what I know. But there are tons more games out there that are goo for beginners. Some games I didn't mention was Mamegoma 2 and Rhythm Rilakkuma. Both fun and simple. Pokemon, which I didn't get to show you, gives you the option on how to read. You can choose between kana and kanji. I picked kana because it is just easier at my level. If you play pokemon your familiar with alot of what goes on so you can kinda put two and two together and make sense out of the game.

Like I stated in the video none of this is useful or possible if you can't read kana. I know it's fucked up and I am not trying to exclude anyone. It's just that aside from it being better, it is also easier for me to write things without using romaji. I think I learned hiragana when I was 14. For no reason at all I just learned them and the internet was a great place for that.

6.5. Halloween Photos

It wasn't what we were expecting. But somehow, it managed to be fun. It was nice seeing our friend Taki since we hadn't seen her in awhile. Hopefully we will hang out again some time soon. I will definitely never forget that evening.

Well noting much really happened on Halloween weekend. All we did was go to a party that wasn't what we expected to be on Saturday. Took some pictures from that night ill put it up later.

As for Halloween it's self I went to Blood Manor with a few friends of mine, sad to say that Mina was not Included T_T. I wasn't allowed to take pictures or video inside the place, but i have to say it was worth it. I really love the different sets that they had it was done very well.
The actors were really great and funny to me. They tried so hard to scare me but it was no dice. I was really happy and impressed that they had a Freddy scene/section the actor was great acting as Freddy he even made those silly jokes. The werewolf scene was awesome and the mad scientist section those were my favorite section of Blood Manor I wish that the walk through was longer for me it was to short but i wasn't upset. That's basicly it for what i did on Halloween weekend.

3. PNFPN

Hey this is Mina, checking in to make her first official blog post~. For awhile now I have been spending my free time at home playing video games, watching movies I have never seen, learning japanese (barely), and tumbling. However, since I am a true winter bug, the fact that the weather has gotten cooler has warmed me up to the idea of leaving the house. So, this past Saturday was a lovely day, weather in the 60's with the sun still shining, so I decided I would call up my friend Nyla and find out with she was doing. She had borrowed a scarf of mine and needed to give it back to me so it was the perfect excuse to drag her out. Every other weekend my sister has a BJD(ball jointed doll?) Meetup, so she was already in the city. I gave her a call and told her to meet up with me after it was done.

So I headed off the the usual meeting spot, Union Square and people watched until my sis showed up. She had brought a friend along with her. She was so adorable. Very innocent looking, like untouched by corrupt hands. Hee hee. ANYWAY, we were hungry so we decided we would star the day off with some M2M (Morning to Midnight). It's our McDonalds, whenever we are hungry without thinking we eat there. I might do a post about them one day. Anyway, I got the usual, tempura sushi. My sister got crab sushi. I tried this chinese passion fruit tea that I have never had before, It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. My sister had this amazing Momo Flavored drink, which I discovered by the way. Always so yummy. Dylan, my sisters friend from the meet-up said she was a picky eater, and I bought this new flavor of Haichuu I never tried and was pushing her to try it and she said she liked it. I felt accomplished a bit, I got someone to like something. But then, I tried this new flavor myself, and I hated it. What a fucking waste. Oh well, I'm somewhat courting her, she's adorable. <3

Sexy tempura and the ginger packets I stole from everyone~

2. BJD in NYC

Type:Boy An from Resinsoul

Type: Bobobie Boy Apollo

This pass Saturday I attend a monthly BJD (ball jointed doll) meet-up in NYC. It's a meet-up for people who are collectors of Asian Ball jointed dolls or Dollfies. I personally own two of these doll one is from Bobobie and the second one is a Resinsoul doll (both there pictures are on top of this post). Everyone at the meet had there wonderful dolls out on display. We always meet at a public space at the atrium at the southwest corner of Madison Avenue and East 56th Street. every second or third Saturday of each month.
What do I do at these meet? Well it's simple I talk to other owners about there dolls, about there favorite company what's new and also what do they like about the dolls and how they got started on collecting these dolls. BJD are Customizable dolls there have different sizes and skin tone for these dolls. You can select want color eyes or what style wig you want, some people do custom face-up for these dolls. Also there would be people there selling or provide service for owners Dolls, for example selling dolls clothing, shoes, eyes, wigs, props, and extra items. Here are a few pictures I took at the meet, if you like to see more just check out my flickr album.

1.NYCOMIC-Con/ NYAF

This past weekend me and a friend of mine went to NYCC/NYAF at Jacob Javits Center. This was the first time they combined both conventions and I have to say it was chaotic. None of the staff really knew where anything was and the time schedule for panels wasn't really accurate. The anime section of the convention was at the back of the Javits center in a very small corner. To me it wasn't as much as NYCC/NYAF combined together, it was more like 90% Comic Con and 10% Anime Fest. I noticed that this year there were a lot of bad cosplayers. Come on people if your going to cosplay don't do a half ass job! Do it right ! Other than that I saw a few good and awesome cosplayers. The space for the artist alley was so small I really felt like this year they didn't care or put much thought into the anime section of the Convention.
Anyway I still had a good time at the con. I ran into a few friends that I haven't seen in a long time. I didn't get to take a lot of pictures but here are a few. Sad to say that this year I didn't cosplay at all but next year I definitely will.

0.はじめてのあいさつ

Welcome to our blog!

Hello and welcome! My sister and I decided to start a blog together. Why? Well the same reason most people start one, boredom and the desire to share ones interests and happenings with the world. With our blog you have a contrast of two minds; Separated by a generation but connected through shared interests, we create an atmosphere filled with organized madness and varied opinions.

This blog will be a medium for the things that are going on in our lives (without getting to personal), things we find cool, places we go to among other things. Mostly we will post separately on a regular basis so that there is always something interesting posted from the both of us. We really just want a place to write together and have fun sharing with not only each other but others who decide to follow us! Please feel free to talk to us, sharing your opinions and ideas, or even just saying hi. Here's a little bit about us so that we can use this space to be vain for a moment.

Well, to start this off my name is Mina. I am currently a college student with dreams of one day working in Fashion Marketing. For me personally fashion, no matter how cliche it may sound, has always been a way for me to express myself. My style has changed so much over the years and through that I realize how important presenting ourselves is. I love other cultures and am constantly looking into some new foreign shit. Music and movies are really important, it doesn't stop at whether its good of bad for me, I have to know why, what it's referencing, the time it was created in and who it's geared toward. There are alot of awesome things out there and I like to be surrounded by things that are meaningful, sometimes in the strangest of ways. Feel free to send me a message on facebook or skype.

Hey~ I'm Stephanie. I have been into Japanese Culture for 8 years now. My first convention was BAAF (Big Apple Anime Fest) 2003, since then I have gotten further into cosplay, anime, japanese music, and j-fashion. I would love to go to Japan someday so that's why I am currently learning japanese. Making my own outfits and costumes is something I enjoy doing. I often frequent japanese related events such as fashion shows, concerts and theme parties (i.e Dances of Vice). Recently my current hobbies include BJD (ball jointed dolls), playing Soul Calibur 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 2. Some of my favorite japanese artists are Utada Hikaru, Moi Dix Mois and Malice Mizer,  and for non-japanese artists, Bjork, Madonna, and 80's music.

What you can expect from this blog:
  • Shop Hops. We will be checking alot of Japanese restaraunts, clothing stores, book shops, and establishments in general and reviewing them.[That's always something we have wanted to do hee hee]
  • Stephanie's Journey to Japanese or SJTJ will be a comic like series of Mina teaching/studying Japanese. Since Steph is at a beginners level we figured it would be fun and helpful to those who are also wanting to learn japanese. [Further information on material and study guide will be given at a later time.]
  • Out and About. Outings with friends and general fun things we do together.
  • Japanese/Asian Cultural Events. In New York there is alot of influences of other countries and their cultures and we have alot of events that celebrate that. From anime conventions to festivals and concerts. There is a wide array of things we will be visiting and taking part of and documenting for the blog.
  • Mina's Mixtape will be a (almost) weekly compilation of songs ranging from indie music, local bands, to japanese rock, rap and visual kei.
  • Stephanie no Saihou is a section where Stephanie talks about her clothing. Working on cosplay, and various other things, she will showcase her own work and also talk about what/who inspires her.
Note: While alot of these things seem to focus on Japanese and Asian culture it will not stop there, that is just the majority of the things we will be posting so that's why I stated it.
